Establish APAC with International Societies

On October 24, 2024, CCF held a meeting with Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ), Korea Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers (KIISE), Singapore Computer Society (SCS), and Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS) to discuss the establishment of Asia Pacific Association for Computing (APAC). 

The meeting involving Mr. Sun Ninghui, President of CCF, Mr. Hu Shimin, VP of CCF, Mr. Tang Weiqing, CEO of CCF, Mr. Chen Xilin, Director of Committee on International Cooperation (CIC), Mr. Xie Tao, deputy director of CIC and Mr. Chen Yiqiang, member of CIC; and also executives and representatives from IPSJ, KIISE, SCS, and HKCS, was chaired by Hu Shimin, VP of CCF.


HUSHIMIN


Hu Shimin introduced the background of  APAC, and detailed on organization structure, operation mechanism, and member obligations of APAC. He pointed out that APAC is an international non-profit organization, voluntarily formed by academic organizations engaged in computing and related science and technology in the Asia Pacific, aiming to promote the development of academia, technology, education, applications, and provide services for personal career development in computing. 

Subsequently, the chairmans of every society took turns to speak and conducted in-depth discussions on the constitution, organizational structure, operational mechanism, election rules, academic activities, and other matters about APAC. All parties reached an agreement to jointly promote the signing of APAC Memorandum of Cooperation.
