The Eighth Session of CCF Executive Board agreed that CCF would establish a task force on integrated circuit design. It is of great importance for Integrated Circuit (IC in short) and chip design to China. Semiconductor chip industry has become a strategic sector in China, but there is a long way to go for the development of China's chip industry. Especially in the environment of the Sino-US trade battle upgraded, China's semiconductor industry is still weak in competition, and it faces much challenges such as the core technology as bottle-neck in integrated circuit design. IC design (including processor, memory chip design and etc.) involving computer and microelectronics, is cross-disciplinary and requiring vertical optimization. The purpose to establish CCF IC design task force is to unite, integrate and organize professionals in the field of integrated circuits, to promote vertical optimization through interdisciplinary interaction. Meanwhile, it will closely integrate with the industry to promote synergy between industry, academic and research, and improve the level of domestic science & research, teaching and personnel training and academic influence in this field.

According to the Rules of CCF Technical Committee, preparatory groups will consist of 4 people from CCF Committee on Technical Committees’ Affairs and representatives in this field. The initial member list will be reviewed and decided by the preparatory group, besides the volunteer members from EDA group within the CCF CAD & CG Committee, CCF calls for participation of members in this task force from now on, and accepts the application for the group leader campaign. Initial members who is qualified have long-term academic work experience in related fields, with senior or equivalent titles, and CCF effective membership.
